Fall Forward With Us

It’s that time of year again - crisp morning air, the sound of leaves crunching underfoot, the smell of the infamous ‘pumpkin spice latte’....as well as the hustle and bustle that comes with school being back in session.

As a mental health counselor who specializes in working with youth, this time of year comes with a mixed bag of joys and sorrows. Autumn traditions with friends fill my heart with joy, and yet it is during this time of year that many of my young clients begin to become acutely aware of how isolated, under-supported, and invisible they feel. They begin to flounder under the weight of assignments, social pressures, and challenging familial circumstances.

At this point during the year, more than ever, they need a place to belong. They need a supportive community who inspires them as they learn who they are, helping them know that they matter, they are loved, and their presence is worth more than gold.

For that reason, our team of volunteers feels a sense of urgency to rise to meet them, just as they are, and invite them into the community that is The Foundry. Would you partner with us, by donating or volunteering, to make it possible for The Foundry to open our doors as early as November 2018?

Co-Founder & Program Manager

In order to open our doors we need to cover the cost of our Insurance policy, which has a premium of around $2,500. Once paid, we will be able to open our doors. Our founders and advisors have worked tirelessly to secure an insurance policy that does not impede access to The Foundry for youth who need it the most. Although the cost is slightly greater, our team believes that with this broader policy we will be able to better serve the youth of our community. Please consider giving $25, $100, or even $250 to provide a safe place for youth to belong.  https://fundraise.foundrymentoring.org/give/197795/#!/donation/checkout

It is not too late to be a part of The Foundry community. We are grateful for those who have already said ‘yes!’ to investing in the lives of youth. Know someone? Invite them! Join with others who believe in the power of mentoring, that our youth are our future, and who are willing to invest between 30 minutes and 3 hours a week into the lives of youth by simply being present with them. The Foundry @ TSM

If you have not already heard, Foundry Mentoring has partnered with Timberline Student Ministries to provide an after-school drop-in program for high school aged youth in Fort Collins. The TSM space is within walking distance of Fort Collins High School, and will provide a safe and welcoming place for youth to spend after-school hours. Our growing community of volunteers and youth are eager for The Foundry to launch! Learn more at: www.foundrymentoring.org/fall2018

Did You Know?!

When the bell rings at Fort Collins High School, dozens of youth make the trek next door to McDonalds. For some, the fast food restaurant is simply a convenient pick-up point away from the surge of school traffic. For others, it is a place where they can spend the next several hours indoors while they wait for a ride home, all for the price of a drink and a McDouble. With your support, we can open The Foundry right next door to provide a safe place where youth are welcomed, encouraged, and can enjoy time with others.
